Serving seniors is more than a tradition for Taylor Residences; it is a commitment to residents and to each other, to uphold the founding principle by which Taylor Residences was created, “to provide individuals age 62 and old with affordable housing in a community that values independence, privacy and dignity.”
To continue the Taylor mission of providing quality housing and services for seniors, Taylor Residences is embarking on a major fund drive to raise at least two million dollars over the next two years. This money will be committed to provide financial support for many of our residents who have a need, to reduce debt and to make capital improvements in our facilities.
During the last two years, Samuel C. Taylor Foundation and the other five entities subsidized a total of 100 residents in our assisted living facilities in the amount of $845,000. $1.5 million was used to upgrade our facilities.
The Taylor Vision
According to the last will and testament of Samuel C. Taylor, "This Foundation is created as the fulfillment of a dream of the Donor and in loving memory of his wife, Fannie E. Taylor, who is now deceased. It is created with the hope that other citizens of this community will affirmatively express by tangible gifts, their interest in citizens who have reached the twilight of their years."
We began our fund raising effort by appealing to our board of directors and employees. We received cash and commitments for approximately $50,000 in 2009. This indicates an overwhelming support by our board and employees who are dedicated to our mission.
Our hope and prayer is that you will help with “Continuing the Mission” with your contribution. Gifts may also be made “in honor of” and “in memory of” loved ones and friends. With your assistance, we will continue to serve seniors through our compassionate approach that was founded in the context of Christian love.
Checks made payable to Samuel C. Taylor Foundation should be mailed to my attention to 6601 Chester Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32217. Your contribution is tax deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. The Samuel C. Taylor Foundation is exempt from federal income tax as an organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
