I have grandparents....you have grandparents. What would you do if one of your grandparents or someone you know was in poor health, couldn't live on their own and needed help?
Samuel C. Taylor was a real estate developer. His wife Fannie worked selflessly on the board of the Florida Christian Home for the Aged. The Taylors were very passionate for the care and well being of the elderly.
It was important to Mrs. Taylor that Mr. Taylor dedicate the majority of his estate to the Samuel C. Taylor Foundation, which was to help provide housing and support services for generations of seniors to come. When Mr. Taylor died in 1963 it marked the beginning of a new generation for the elderly. The Samuel C. Taylor Foundation was created.
According to the last will and testament of Samuel C. Taylor, "This Foundation is created as the fulfillment of a dream of the Donor and in loving memory of his wife, Fannie E. Taylor, who is now deceased. It is created with the hope that other citizens of this community will affirmatively express by tangible gifts, their interest in citizens who have reached the twilight of their years."
Taylor care center has two locations in Jacksonville. They offer skilled-nursing, assisted living, and independent lifestyle apartments for seniors age 62 or older who don't have a lot of money.
At Taylor Care they have nurses who spend their time to help the residents. The nurses help them move around the facility. They provide them medicine and give the residents food. At Taylor Care they have doctors who give the residents checkups. Taylor Care has many fun activities for the residents and their families. Organizations within the community come to visit the residents. At Christmas time, the BTCS daisies, brownies and boy scouts went to sing at the facility. Although my brother and I are not scouts, we participated too!
Taylor Care had a huge Christmas party for the residents and their families I know that because I was there. There was live music, dancing and a buffet dinner. Taylor Care has a screen patio at the back of the facility; it has a pond there as well. It is a nice little habitat for the geese, ducks and swans. On the patio they have jalapeno plants in box garden. I ate that had just sprouted it was sizzling hot. There is also a smaller garden that has herbs and tomatoes. There are also orange trees as well.
Their housing and services are helping senior citizens and their families. I know this because my Grammy and Pop Pop now live at Taylor Care. My family and I appreciate the efforts of Mr. Taylor. Because of his vision, tons of help and support have been provided to my family. And my Grammy and Pop Pop are being well cared for in their twilight years!
